Arriving from the mainland on the historic Flagler Memorial Bridge (aka the North Bridge), you will find yourself surrounded by magnificent towering royal palms, exquisitely groomed flowerbeds and lush tropical gardens. The historic “Main Street” of the island, Royal Poinciana Way, is home to an array of inviting storefronts with unique facades. Discover a diverse collection of shops from Steuben Glass and the latest arcade of new stores at the Breakers Palm Beach to the Tropical Fruit Shop (great souvenirs and pirate stuff), all within walking distance of one another. Be sure to visit one of the many famous Palm Beach restaurants or just enjoy a leisurely stroll down the street.
Start your exploration on Coconut Row just west of Royal Poinciana Way at the ROYAL POINCIANA CHAPEL, built by Henry Morrison Flagler in 1898. Next door is Flagler’s Gilded Age estate, Whitehall, which is open to the public as the FLAGLER MUSEUM. You’ll also have a chance to look at the oldest house in Palm Beach, Sea Gull Cottage, purchased by Flagler and lived in while Whitehall was being completed as a wedding gift to his bride.
